Our experienced team specialises in notarising, apostilling, and legalising documents for Indonesia, ensuring compliance with all legal requirements. Whether for business or personal use, we make the legalisation process straightforward and efficient.
FCDO Document Legalisation Process
Step 1: Apostille from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO):
Although Indonesia is not a Hague Convention member, the first step in the legalisation process is to obtain an Apostille from the FCDO. This verifies the authenticity of your document’s signature, seal, or stamp. However, for documents destined for use in Indonesia, this Apostille will need to be followed by an additional legalisation step with the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate.
Step 2: Attestation by the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate:
After obtaining the Apostille, your document must be presented to the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate for further attestation. The embassy or consulate will verify that the document is legitimate for use in Indonesia and apply their stamp of approval.
Step 3: Document Return:
Once the document has been attested by the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate, it is ready for use in Indonesia. This confirms that the document is both recognised by UK authorities and by the Indonesian government.
Fees
- Apostille Fee: The fee for obtaining an Apostille from the FCDO is £40 per document (exclusive of VAT).
- Indonesian Embassy/Consulate Fees: The Indonesian Embassy or Consulate will also charge a fee for their attestation services. The fees can vary depending on the type of document, so it is important to check with the embassy or consulate for the exact cost.
Processing Times
- Apostille Processing Time: The standard processing time for obtaining an Apostille from the FCDO is typically 48 hours.
- Indonesian Embassy/Consulate Processing Time: Once the document has been apostilled, the attestation process by the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate typically takes up to one working week, depending on the document type and the specific consulate service used.
